PROPOSALS TABLED (Please contact Bob Darling [x2923] if you have any questions).
New Courses:
 PSY 235 Cultural Psychology
1) the committee would like to have the Sociology / Anthropology Department provide comment on this course. This can come from the Dept. Chair and can be in electronic form.
2) a minor change, but the Office of Disability Services is located in B-1 rather than B-40 Van Hoesen (p.2 of the syllabus).
3) the committee would like further clarification on which GE categories the course is intended to satisfy. The proposal states that the course is a survey course of cultural psychology and is intended to satisfy both GE3 and SUNY GE3 categories. Because PSY 101 is now listed in the old SUNY GE3 (on p. 41 of the 2006-2007 catalog), and PSY 101 is a prerequisite for the course, we wonder why students would take the course because they will already have GE3 credit. The new GE program (listed on pp. 42-43 of the same catalog) again, shows PSY 101 in GE3. The committee wonders if the intent is to propose this as a GE 6 course in the new GE program. Again, the committee would just like some further clarification.
 AAS 468 African-American Sport History
1) Is it the intention of the instructor to cross-list this course with EXS 468? The syllabus indicates a cross-list but its not reflected in the catalog description. The no answer to the question about courses with similar overlap (question 7) seemed incorrect as EXS 468 is an identical course. If the goal is to cross-list, then the syllabus for AAS 468 needs to include an Also listed as EXS 468. statement, and EXS 468 must be altered to include an Also listed as AAS 468. statement.
2) prior to the Also listed as EXS 468. statement, the catalog description needs the following statement: Open only to juniors and seniors. This should appear in the revised catalog description for EXS 468, as well.
3) a minor change, but the Office of Disability Services is located in B-1 rather than B-40 Van Hoesen (p.1 of the syllabus).
4) please replace "(3 credit hours)" with "(3 cr. hr.)" at the end of the catalog description.

5) although we recognize that EXS 468 is already listed in the catalog, the committee feels the catalog description could be shortened by deleting the first 4 words of line 1 and the first 6 words of line 2.
Alterations to programs:
 Alteration to CAP minor
1) The committee has concerns about deleting PSY 201 from Group 4. This is because its equivalent courses (COM 230, MAT 201, ECO 221) remain in the minor. Because they are all the same course, either they should all be included or none should be included.
The committee recommends placing PSY403/CAP403 in Group 5 of the CAP minor. After all, it is a more advanced course than PSY 201. PSY 201 could then be left in Group 4 and students who actually complete PSY 201 could then enroll in PSY 403/CAP 403.
